Format

Combat Jiu Jitsu Rules
Matches can be won by:
- Submission
- KO / referee stoppage
- points / judges decision
All submissions allowed.
Open-hand strikes allowed, as follows:
- Using front of hand
- Using back of hand
- Anywhere to a "downed" opponent, except for: back of the head & groin area.
An opponent is considered "downed", when in the following positions (hence, strikes allowed from these positions (both ways):
- On his back (hips and shoulders on the mat)
- Seated position (e.g. seated-guard)
- On his side
- On his front (belly down)
- Kneeling (both knees on the ground)
- Half-kneeling (one knee on the ground).
The following would classify an opponent as "standing":
- Both feet on the ground
- Both feet on the ground, while the hands are also touching the ground
If both athletes are in "Standing" position, no open-hand strikes allowed.
No other forms of striking allowed, including (but not limited to):
- Closed-fist strikes
- Kicks of any kind
- Knee trikes
- Elbow strikes
- Shoulder strikes
- Head-butts.
Best-of-Three Rounds format.
Each round is 7 minutes* long, with a 1 minute break between each round.
Who ever wins two out of three rounds, wins the match.
* - 10 minutes long for Championship matches.
"1-point" scoring system, as follows:
- Takedown = x1 point
- Guard-pass = x1 point
- Back-take (both hooks in, body-triangle) = x1 point
- Mount = x1 point
- Sweep = x1 point
- Strikes do not score a point
If no points scored during the match, winner will be awarded based on activity, "pushing the action", etc.
Following actions would lead to an immediate disqaulification, if attempted intentionally:
- Eye gouging
- Fish hooking
- Grabbing extremities (fingers, hair, toes, ears, etc)
- One-handed wind pipe grip
- Slamming oponent when in closed-guard
Disallowed Strikes:
- Closed-fist strikes
- Kicks of any kind
- Knee strikes
- Elbow strikes
- Shoulder strikes
- Head-butts.
All athletes are expected to behave in a professional and sportsman-like manner.
Any points awarded by the referee during a match are final and won't be revoked.
If a match goes to a decision, the verdict of the judges is final, and won't be revoked.
Any deliberate unprofessional behaviour would result in a stern-warning, and/or immediate disqualification.
